Call for nominations for DEP NW district stewardship awards

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced a call for nominations for their Northwest District Annual Environmental Stewardship Awards Program. The program recognizes those working alongside DEP to protect, conserve and manage Florida's natural resources. Nominations must be received by close of business Friday, Nov. 1, 2019.
The program recognizes businesses, industries, professional and non-profit organizations, and local governments in the Northwest District for their proactive, innovative and exceptional achievements in environmental stewardship.
The objective of environmental stewardship is to reduce the impacts on the environment beyond measures required by permit or rule, ensuring responsible use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices.
To be considered for recognition, participants must demonstrate significant and measurable achievements that provide a direct benefit to our environment in one or more of the following categories:
• Reducing environmental impacts
• Conserving resources
• Enhancing ecosystems
• Restoring impacts
Additional criteria that will be considered:
• An organizational culture of environmental stewardship
• Environmental education and outreach components
• Innovation and exceptional achievement in environmental stewardship
Rules and instructions:
1. The Northwest District Environmental Stewardship Awards program is open to Northwest District Florida businesses, industries, professional and non-profit organizations and local governments.
2. Application or nomination must be received by close of business Friday, Nov. 1, 2019.
3. Completed nomination form must be submitted along with any optional supporting documents.
4. Supportive material is limited to 10 additional pages.
