Ashey resigns from DEP

Mike Ashey has resigned from his position at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as chief of the Bureau of Petroleum Storage Systems, effective Feb. 28, 2011.


Ashey began working for the state in 1991 and has held various senior management positions. Prior to his employment with the state, he worked for the Department of Defense from 1983 to 1990.


In 1988, he was appointed as the technical advisor for the Navy SEALS for two years and he was awarded a Navy Commendation for his contributions to unconventional warfare operations.


Mike received his undergraduate degree in ocean engineering from Florida Atlantic University in 1983. In addition, he is a veteran, having served in the Marine Corps from 1974 to 1978.
