Huegel named as BPSS chief

U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Valerie Huegel has been formally named chief of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Petroleum Storage Systems.



In March, she was named acting bureau chief, replacing Robert C. Brown.



Huegel was a program administrator in DEP's Northwest District office where she oversaw all administrative and budget functions.



She is leading a team to identify and implement changes to DEP’s Petroleum Cleanup Program, including establishing fiscal controls to eliminate waste.



She has more than 25 years of experience related to conflict resolution, change management, strategic planning, human resources and budget issues.



Huegel is also currently serving our nation in the U.S. Navy Reserves as the Deputy Commander for the Navy Supply Systems Command Global Logistics Support.
